The hotel is in a great position. Excellent pool area. Staff very friendly and approachable. The décor inside was a out of date but still well maintained and I believe that there is a planned refurb towards the end of the year. The room was cleaned on a daily basis and two sets of beach towels were provided in room which was good. If I had one negative point it would be that there was not enough staff at garden /beach bar area. I've stayed at nearby hotels where staff patrol the grounds occasionally and ask if you would like drinks or cool towel etc. There was none of this and quite often it was up to you to dispose of empty drinks vessels as staff did not seem to do this that often. Other than that I would have no quibble. We had an excellent relaxing stay. The grounds are spacious and there was never any problem obtaining sunbeds. Food was of a good standard. All in all it was a very good and enjoyable place to stay.

Great hotel, all staff fantastic. Checked in with a glass of fizz and sitting privately in a room with David who was very nice, took time to explain thing about the hotel and then took us to our top floor suite which we had been upgraded to his service was excellent. Cases delivered to room, free safe, great air conditioning which was so needed in August. Do love adults only hotels after years of family ones. Food was exceptional chefs on hand to cook eggs, pancakes, carve meats very good choice and service was great. Bottle water arrived every night in our room. 30 minute walk to main area, a few bars across the road ewe tried, singer on most nights, low key, seating area round bar could be better laid out, often sitting with back to singer. Highly recommended this hotel, class establishment. Well done.

Hotel in excellent position on sea front but near shopping centre too. Plenty sunbeds no matter what time of day and staff great. Indoor pool lovely addition but kids playing with inflatables in there with no adults around not a good idea......could not swim because of this. Loads of choice of varied food but dining options of different restaurants confusing. Enjoyed options of entertainment but seats were not the most comfortable. Rooms needed updating and carpeted areas a little shabby but overall a wonderful holiday and would definitely come back.

Spent a week here on a B&B basis in a sea view standard room via Jet 2. This was our first visit to,this hotel, but second to Paphos. Arrived late but had a warm welcome and a summary of restaurant timings, Wi-Fi, etc. People have said that the hotel is, decoration wise, dated and I suppose it is, but it is clean. I did spot a couple of stains on the hall carpet but these were cleaned and removed. The carpet is another thing people seem to dislike, but having had numerous holidays in hotels with tile flooring it does dull the noise of people and cases going down the hall late at night and early in the morning, The room had a large wardrobe with lots of hangers, and several drawers, bathrobes and slippers, kettle (tea, coffee and milk replaced daily), fridge (3 shelves just enough space to get 1.5l bottles of water on each shelf and a couple n the door), flat screen tv, hairdryer (not all that powerful and the type where you have to keep the button pressed for it to work), a couple of plates and knives and forks and a safe which was locked by a 4 digit combination. The room also had a couple of chairs and a small table and an iron and ironing board. The bathroom had a bath, ceiling fitting shower head and a shower with a hose. There was soap dispensers in the shower and next to the sink plus bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and a couple of bars of soap ... plus some bathroom scales (always useful for weighing suitcases on the way back). The breakfast had a huge variety. Several varieties of cereal (including some gluten free), omlettes made to order, poached and fried egg cooked fresh, waffles, crepes, pancakes. Fresh fruit, yoghurt plus the usual elements of an English breakfast. There was a variety of bread and jams/marmalade’s. We ate a couple of times in the pool bar and had a toasted ham and cheese sandwich (about €4), tuna baguette (again about €4) a portion of chips for €3 (which was enough for 2), there was a couple of pizzas at about €10 and port or chicken kebabs with pitta and chips for about €9. There is a mini market on site where a litre of water was about 95cents. There is a supermarket over the road which sold everything from a small supply of cheese, marg, cooked meats to biscuits, water, alcohol, etc. There was a really nice coffee/sandwich kiosk outside of the supermaket which was really good value. A large tuna baguette there was €2.50,chicken and cheese was about €3.50. They also, sold muffins, doughnuts, freshly squeezed orange juice crisps, etc. It did seem popular with locals and tourists. There is also a bus stop outside the hotel which takes you into Paphos and was €1.50 each way or €5 for the day (although only up to 9pm I think when it goes Up,to €2.50). there were also 7 day tickets you could buy for €20 which is something to consider if you intend to do a bit of exploring in the Paphos area. There are a range of restaurants a few minute walk away, and a couple of pubs and restaurants over the road, which is why I undestand some people have commented about the noise generated by them. There are 3 pools, 1 indoor one and a kiddies pool (this was shaded), there is a small flue for the kids to go down. What ever time of the day we went whether 9am or 3pm we could always find a sun lounger (I appreciate I didn’t go on the height of the season). Each sunlounger had an umberella, plastic chair and a table. They did offer an upgrade to HB for €19 pppn, this was usually about €23. It did get a bit confusing as the hotel offered other menus whereby FB and HB guests had an allowance towards that specific menu (this wasn’t in the usual restaurant which offered the buffet but a table d’hote). On the last day we did use the courtesy room which had a shower, towel, hairdryer and a loo and sinks which was fine. The shower wasn’t the greatest (difficult to control the temp), but it served its purpose. The staff were nice and there appeared to be a lot of repeat guests. There were a few people with mobility problems and as the hotel backs onto the promomade it’s easy to get out and about round the hotel and area.

Just got back from a week at the Athena beach resort. Where to start. location. Couldn’t be better right on the beach. I could literally throw a tennis ball from our balcony into the sea. Room 305. Stunning views and great for people watching and the best sun sets. The hotel is dated but that said it is spotlessly clean and definitely a high 4 stars. The rooms (we had a superior) are great, comfy beds, full bath and shower, sky TV, mini bar, coffee machine and the air con great. Complimentary wine and fruit on arrival. The facilities are great, several pools, jacuzzi’s and sun beds galore. 5 restaurants and bars to choose from but would highly recommend the salad bar for lunch. Buffet style sales with more choice than you can eat. €4 for a small plate, €6 for a large. Breakfast is amazing, all you can eat and I have never seen a more varied selection, all fresh and there is an older lady there cooking fresh omelettes, fried eggs and poached eggs which are cooked to perfection. The main harbour and town of Paphos are just a short distance away, too far to walk in the heat but t there are buses every 20 minutes or so and it’s only €12 for a taxi. There are loads of restaurants nearby all good quality and plenty of choice ( see my separate reviews of the local eateries) Best thing of all though about this place. The staff. And army of them cleaning, entertaining and doing all they can to make your stay the best it could be. The friendliest I have ever come across. I would go again and would definitely recommend this hotel highly. If the budget can stretch to it go for the rooms with their own pools.

Review Royal Athena Beach Paphos Cyprus 15 Sep 2018 An adults only [over 16] 6 story, 208 room hotel situated on the south west coast of Cyprus. Constantinou Brothers Hotel group own and/or manage 4 hotels along Poseidonos, Paphos, (west to east; Athena Royal Beach, Athena Beach, Asimina Suites and Pioneer Beach [now branded as Tri Sensima, yet run by the Constantinou Brothers]) We have not stayed in the Asimina Suits Hotel, but have stayed, more than once, in each of the other 3 hotels. Whilst all hotels are advertised as being directly on the beach, the beach is not as the sandy beaches in the south east of the island of Cyprus (Ayia Napa, Protaras etc) .. access to the sea is via man-made floating jetties, which, alas, are all too frequently closed/broken due to ‘inclement conditions’ ... one half of the lazy pair loves nothing more than playing in surf, and having stayed in Constantinou Brothers hotels in Pathos many times find any non-access to the sea, despite the abundance of hotel pools, always disappointing. Feedback to the hotel would be to consider making the floating jetties solid jetties (in over 6 visits, only on the one visit was there no closure at some stage of our vacation of the floating jetty’s [Pioneer Beach Hotel]) [the sea is cleaner at the Royal Athena beach end] The hotel is now starting to look a little tired, yet everything is very clean and functional. We love the simple things such as good lifts, effective air conditioning, included fridge, included safe, included excellent WiFi throughout the hotel and grounds, great room shower’s and hot water on-tap (so that Mr Lazy can wet shave). It is lovely to know there are a plentiful number of sun-loungers and umbrellas in good and spacious areas, thereby negating the best sun bed free-for-all that is an issue in most hotels. The most important asset of the hotel is the friendliness of the staff, which, despite the year-on-year changing faces, there remains the same friendliness. Food is good and reasonably varied. (breakfast = very good / evening meal = ok) Mrs Lazy is a huge fan of the relaxing spa and massage facilities. Many more positives than negatives and even though a little quiet for some, this lazy pair will be returning.

Second year in a row at this amazing hotel. The worst part about it both years has been having to leave!! This year we were all inclusive, which is well worth it! We have hardly had to put our hands in our pockets all week because almost everything is included and readily available. Cocktails, bottles of water, ice cream, wine, spirits... etc. etc. Breakfast in the main atrium is amazing, so much choice and variety! Lunch can be taken by the pool with snacks such as pizza, toasties, chips, barbecue or in one of the restaurants with a huge variety. As a standard room you also get 2 À la carte dinners per week in the restaurants. The Adonis was amazing! Excellent service and amazing food. The Leda Italian was nice food, but the meal and service was very slow, we were in there for literally 2 hours! The buffet dinner in the Atrium is also plentiful and has lots of variety too. Greek night on Tuesday has to be the best night of the week where all the tables are moved outside around the pool for a BBQ! This again is all included and amazing food, Greek Dancers and music. All the hotel managers were involved and it was a great night. Only snag this night was our all inclusive card disappeared and never came back and staff said they had lost it. Everything you order for the all inclusive has to be signed for with a card which frequently disappears for long periods of time in restaurants and at the bar. A wristband system may works better. Had a couples massage in the Spa which was good value with the added discount for being repeat guests (15%). Back, neck and shoulder massage made us feel like we could move in ways we couldn’t before we went in! Would highly recommend a visit here. Rooms are fantastic, don’t feel outdated to me like other reviews seem to suggest. Bed extremely comfortable and shower was powerful and efficient. Lucky enough to have a sea view room on the third floor which is well worth the upgrade. This year we were in room 388 which looked out over the pool to the sea. Last year in 303, which is right at the end of the hotel with an amazing uninterrupted view of the sea. If lucky enough to be getting a sea view, request one on as higher floor as possible for the best view! In the room you got 4 beach towels which were replaced daily, it was very clean and cleaners so a fantastic job every day. Girlfriend had a problem with the hairdryer supplied as the cord was very short and difficult to dry hair with. As soon as you try and pull it towards your head the plug comes out as the cord is so short! Pool area is top class, so much space, never a fight for sunbeds whatever your preference. All over the pool area, grass and beach. Good walkways out into the sea to enjoy a dip in the sea. Everything spotlessly clean. The staff throughout the hotel are a credit to them and work so hard. Very polite and efficient in everything they do. The ladies that run the daytime activities are also a credit to the hotel and do everything with a smile and so much energy. Although technically not an adults only with some kids about, it generally caters for the older clientele. We often felt quite young in our 20s, but never unwelcome and there were persons of all ages around. Lovely peaceful time can be had without any disturbances! Entertainment in the evenings was quite minimal but enjoyable all the same. I believe a female singer was called Lilly and had a great voice was probably my favourite. Only slight let down at the end of the trip was we requested late check out as our flight didn’t leave until midnight, this costs €60 but we were told the night before this was unavailable which is inconvenient with such a late flight. This is a fantastic hotel, hence coming back 2 years in a row and would definitely come back again too!

Having been to the Constantinou Bros Pioneer Beach hotel twice before, we felt confident that the Athens Beach would be good although were a little anxious that maybe it would be too crowded being that it is the largest hotel in Cyprus with over 400 rooms. We need not have worried as at no time were any areas of the hotel congested or queuing for meals and drinks etc. Plenty of friendly staff ensure that your needs are looked after, the main restaurant provides a vast array of excellent food on a buffet style and there are a further 4 available offering different options .according to your package. The pool areas and vast grassy grounds plus the beach all have sun beds ,parasols and a chair and table per couple with more that enough for everyone so no need for getting up at “stupid o’clock” to reserve them. The rooms are well furnished with good sized bathrooms having showers that are very efficient, scales were a nice extra touch. 4 Pool/Beach towels were in the room ensuring that you always had fresh ones available , the soiled ones were renewed each day. Varied day time activities were available but at no time were you hassled to join in. The evening entertainment was varied with often 2 shows or singers going on simultaneously in different locations ,so usually something that you could watch and relax to,over a drink or two. We were delighted to meet the very affable General Manager who we remembered was previously at the Pioneer Beach and his management style reflects the professional way everything and everybody works to make the Athena Beach such an ideal holiday location.

I have just returned from the Athena Beach I have been staying there for the last seven years approx. 4 times a year in a de lux sea view terrace room, this hotel deserves 4 stars for everything apart from its outdated rooms. With out doubt these are the most outdated rooms I have stayed in Europe .the carpets are flat grubby and stained the pictures are blue with the sun the drawers are on the old metal runners and can be heard all over the hotel please some self closing ones who has pink tiles in a bathroom in 2018,how about some rooms with walk in showers for us older people that have difficulty with baths and please more British TV I am hearing many of your visitors making these comments .It is time Mr Constantino for you to put your hand deep down into your pocket and then your rooms will have standards to match your staff your food and your cleanliness which are 4 star now .With new rooms this would without doubt be the best 4star I Cyprus.

Love the hotel there is so much to recommend it if you want a large adults only friendly place, lots to do close to the sea & lots of sun beds although the towel brigade still insist in reserving the ones close to the pool, when will they ever grow up and share? One thing is evident that service can be based on how much you have paid or package you have purchased, shame really as sometimes with all the great stuff going on you can feel like a poor relation and wait ages to get served in the cheaper seats. Please don’t let that put you off the rooms are all clean and have the things you need if a little tired in places. Breakfasts are fantastic cannot think of much you could wish for missing. Long walk into town but worth the trip and quicker by bus. Staff a real asset generally nothing is too much trouble.
